Known also by her creative moniker YaH‑Ra, (though I personally prefer her as Maya Huyana), she’s carved out a niche all her own: a unique blend of R&B, hip‑hop, soul, and world music that has echoed across Southern California and beyond.


🎶 A Legacy Etched in Releases
From her early days, Maya Huyana has been dedicated to evolving her craft. Her REBiRTH EP, released on September 27, 2017, introduced listeners to raw lyricism and rich production—complete with beats by GoldDigga, mixing/mastering by Viva Mescal—and even scratching by DJ Drastik . This project signaled the emergence of an artist willing to bare her soul.

Next came the SEA‑FOAM EP, dropping June 26, 2019. Produced by Ethan Hill, it featured standout tracks like “HiTTA” and “BLOODBATH,” showcasing her ability to fuse introspection with West Coast grit .

She continued to innovate with the instrumental project Maya Huyana (ESSENTiAL iNSTRUMENTALS)—a 7-track ode to vibe and mood—released around mid‑2021; “REAL LiFE RELEVANCE” and “LESS iS MORE” were highlights, both credited to GoldDigga and Gypsy .

Recent projects show she’s still in her prime: “MiRRORS (BURN THE PLANTATiON)” (May 2025), “MALEFiCENT’s REVENGE” (April 2025), “ALL TiME REMiX” ft. Quincey White (April 2025), and the “YaH‑Ra Essentials Album” (January 2025) all appear in her discography, underscoring her longevity.

Didier Malherbe in 1990's Fetish CD [plus 1979 Bloom, 1981 Melodic Destiny, 1986 Faton Bloom, 1989 Saxo Folies]

  I thought for sure I posted him before, but only in connection with Faton Cahen, here , and Patrice Meyer . Of course he's most known for the work he did with Gong . From the requested album Fetish, released 1990, the last 2 songs feature synth player Rykiel, discogged here .  These are really lovely, consider Hors D'oeuvres: I'm assuming everyone is already familiar with the great Bloom album and Faton Bloom, which is a kind of follow up from 1986 with Cahen.  From that one, the lovely but oddly named Vulvox: From the cassette only release with guitarist Yan Emeric, A Breughel really blew me away in its compositional glory, I am not sure which of his paintings the progressive complexity could be alluding to: Otherwise this release is a bit of mixed bag.
