Songs You Should Hear Before Tonight’s NashLive! Opening Night

https://bit.ly/3SYmqkH

Tonight, it’s all about opening night of our 2023 NashLive! Cobra Series at The Cobra Nashville.

Joining us in this endeavor — our first presented show of the year — will be a stellar lineup featuring ARREIS, Chelcie Jette, and Ria Barkr. Two of the three artists on the bill have released music and/or visuals today, meaning that we’re throwing a double release party for the ages.

Tickets are available here for $10, and it’s 21+ up to enter when doors open at 8 p.m.

If you’re in Nashville, you should come out. But, no matter where you are, you can get a sampling of the lineup with this week’s Songs You Should Hear!

Artist: ARREIS
Song: Vices
Genre: Dark Pop
Why You Should Hear It: ARREIS’ new album, Vices — which we’re going to review in full soon — is a journey through the nine circles of hell. The Chicago native plays the role of Dante traveling through the inferno, as a means of defeating shame and religious trauma.

The title track, “Vices” represents the circle of hell associated with lust. Here, ARREIS leans on a cinematic, dark pop sensibility as she comes to accept her own proclivity toward temptation.

“For now I sit and wait for my lot at heaven’s gate.
Lord, I know that I have sinned
But my vices are so gorgeous
I’ll go ahead and let them win.”

Artist: Chelcie Jette ft. Paul Bowen
Song: Relevant
Genre: Soul/Pop/R&B
Why You Should Hear It: Have you ever felt like you’re falling behind the latest trends? This groovy song — the closing track from Jette’s 2022 EP, Make Way — is an effort to make sense of what’s lost in the algorithmic shuffle of TikTok dances and social media challenges.

Artist: Ria Barkr
Song: Morning Would
Genre: R&B
Why You Should Hear It: A glowing modern R&B cut, “Morning Would” invites the listener to get lost in the one they love — if only for a little while. The Virgina native wrote “Morning Would” after realizing that she and her boyfriend are so focused on their careers, that it places limitations upon the time they get to spend together.

Visuals (shot by Shoot2Kill Productions) just dropped for the new single, supporting the song’s dreamy, sensual soundscape.

What do you think we should hear? You’re always welcome to let us know! And, if you’re an artist (or represent an artist), you can fill out one of these forms to put your music on our radar!
