What God Wants Us To Know

1 Kings begins with the reign of Solomon, whose wisdom and leadership bring great prosperity to Israel. However, the book reveals that even great gifts and accomplishments cannot replace devotion to God. Solomon's heart is eventually turned away through idolatry, and the kingdom later divides because of continued rebellion. Through the ministries of prophets like Elijah, God reminds His people that He alone deserves their worship and trust. 1 Kings teaches that outward success means little if the heart abandons God.
