Seattle’s Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley is set to welcome the internationally acclaimed bassist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Richard Bona for two nights of extraordinary music on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 7:30 PM (PDT). The show will take place at 2033 6th Ave, Seattle, WA 98121, with doors opening at 6:00 PM. A second performance follows on Wednesday at the same time. This event is supported by KNKX.
Heralded as a true musical visionary, Bona’s artistry has been described by the Los Angeles Times as a blend of “Jaco Pastorius's virtuosity, George Benson's vocal fluidity, Joao Gilberto's sense of song and harmony, all mixed up with African culture.” Over his illustrious career, Bona has become a staple in jazz, world, and Afropop music, bringing African traditions, culture, and stories to global audiences.
Bona’s collaborations read like a who’s who of the music world: Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, Chick Corea, Sting, Buena Vista Social Club, Cesaria Evora, Stevie Wonder, Bobby McFerrin, Pat Metheny, and many others. Beyond performing, he has dedicated himself to education, teaching jazz improvisation at NYU and mentoring emerging musicians worldwide, as well as giving TED talks and supporting nonprofit initiatives.
Known for pushing the boundaries of sound, Bona is currently producing and recording projects across Afrobeats, Afropop, Latin, Brazilian, Flamenco, and Caribbean music, while also collaborating on his signature line of custom bass amps and guitars with MARKBASS. His work has earned numerous accolades, including:
Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album – Speaking Of Now (2002)
Golden Melody Award for Best Instrumental Recording Album – Sedar (2017, China)
SACEM Jazz Grand Prize (2012)
Antonio Carlos Jobim Award Honoree, Montreal International Jazz Festival (2010)
Platinum and Gold certifications across multiple countries
Attendees can expect an immersive, genre-spanning experience that blends virtuoso bass playing, soulful vocals, and intricate world rhythms. Bona’s performances are a rare opportunity to witness technical mastery, heartfelt storytelling, and global musical dialogue in one unforgettable show.
