As Post Pulse prepares to release its third studio album, the band has unveiled the record’s title track, “Lupaus” (“Promise”). The single marks a notable milestone for the group, arriving as the first song they have ever written in Finnish. At the same time, the track highlights a heavier and more infectious direction in the band’s evolving sound—further cementing their place within the ever-expanding Finland music scene.
“Lupaus” captures the emotional core and atmosphere that define the upcoming album. The song explores themes of mounting tension and confinement, where desperation, fear, arrogance, dominance, addiction, and ultimately death unfold within a tightening narrative space.
“With this album, I became more involved in writing the lyrics as well,” explains primary songwriter and guitarist Antti Karhu. “Writing in my native language feels natural, and I believe the song’s intensity and energy will resonate even with listeners outside our small language area. When writing the lyrics, I first imagined a peaceful Finnish idyll with its red cottages. Then I gently pulled back the curtain of one of them, looked inside, and wrote down exactly what I saw.”
The track also arrives with a striking visual interpretation in the form of a dark, one-take performance video directed and filmed by Allan Välimaa, with editing handled by Karhu.
Set for release on May 29, Lupaus will be Post Pulse’s third full-length album since the band formed in 2015. The upcoming record continues the band’s musical evolution, blending heavier elements with a more melodic and expansive production style—an approach that reflects the creativity and depth of the modern Finland music scene.
The album was recorded, mixed, and produced by Juhis Kauppinen, known as the driving force behind the band Merta.
