Finnish power metal outfit Nibiru Ordeal continues to expand its sci-fi inspired musical universe with the release of its new single The Explorer. The track offers fans another glimpse into the band’s upcoming album When the Worlds Collide, set for release next year.
Packed with speed, melody, and high-energy instrumentation, “The Explorer” proudly embraces the traditions of power metal while pushing the band’s cosmic narrative forward. The song features an explosive guitar solo section that pays tribute to the legendary Finnish metal band Children of Bodom, blending technical precision with a dramatic, larger-than-life sound.
Lyrically, the track ventures centuries into the future, imagining a world where catastrophic global warming has pushed both humanity and the animal kingdom to the brink of extinction. In a desperate attempt to ensure survival, Earth sends a group of explorers across the far reaches of the galaxy in search of a new inhabitable planet. The cinematic storyline reflects the band’s love for science fiction and epic storytelling, two elements that have become central to the Nibiru Ordeal identity.
The band’s upcoming album When the Worlds Collide will mark their second full-length release, following their debut album Solar Eclipse, which arrived in 2019 and introduced listeners to their blend of melodic power metal and space-themed concepts.
Nibiru Ordeal originally formed as a collaboration between childhood friends Vili Härkönen and Pekka Laitinen. The lineup later expanded to include guitarist Mirko Byman, vocalist Andi Kravljaca, and bassist Anssi Kinnunen, solidifying the band’s dynamic sound and vision.
Before their debut album, the group first introduced themselves with the Spacebeast EP in 2015, laying the groundwork for their evolving interstellar concept.
With “The Explorer,” Nibiru Ordeal continues to blend powerful instrumentation with cinematic storytelling, setting the stage for an ambitious new chapter as they prepare to release When the Worlds Collide. 🚀🎸🔥
