Jack Smith Cites Trump Threatening Milley with Execution in New Filing (Meidas Touch Network  link): In a new filing to bolster his previous arguments for a limited gag order against Trump from threatening potential witnesses and parties in his J6 case, the Special Counsel's office cited Trump's Truth Social post where he insanely claimed that General Mark Milley was guilty of treason and should be executed.

Jack Smith argues Trump “demands special treatment, asserting that because he is a political candidate, he should have free rein to publicly intimidate witnesses and malign the Court, citizens of this District and prosecutors. But in this case...Trump is a criminal defendant.”

In response to Trump's deranged social media post, Trump's Secretary of Defense Mark Esper came forward to defend Milley against Trump's allegations.

“It’s a legitimate fear” that if Trump becomes commander-in-chief again that he would seek to punish people like Gen. Mark Milley after baselessly suggesting he committed treason. “I think these are all legitimate concerns.”

Mark Milley is certainly a potential witness against Trump in his criminal case, and Trump knows this very well. He continues to use mafia-style intimidation tactics against witnesses, prosecutors and judges.

Earlier today, Judge Chutkan set a hearing on the gag order motion for October 16. Should be interesting.

Milley in farewell speech: ‘We don’t take an oath to a wannabe dictator’ (Politico link): Gen. Mark Milley used his final speech as Joint Chiefs chair on Friday to emphasize that troops take an oath to the Constitution and not to a “wannabe dictator,” days after former President Donald Trump suggested the nation’s top officer should be put to death.

In an impassioned speech during his retirement ceremony at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington, Va., Milley spoke of the continued bravery of American service members and underscored that the oath they take to protect the Constitution encompasses “all enemies, foreign and domestic,” emphasizing “all” and “and.”

We don’t take an oath to a king, or a queen, or to a tyrant or dictator, and we don’t take an oath to a wannabe dictator,” Milley said. “We don’t take an oath to an individual. We take an oath to the Constitution, and we take an oath to the idea that is America, and we’re willing to die to protect it.”

“Every soldier, sailor, airman, Marine, guardian and Coast Guardsman, each of us commits our very life to protect and defend that document, regardless of personal price,” Milley continued. “And we are not easily intimidated.”

The Trump campaign did not immediately return a request for comment.
