Lyrics have always been the most important factor in hip hop music. From the early days in the 70s and 80s all the way until today, the most efficient way for a rapper to gain respect is to have bars. 


People might say that lyrics matter less on hip hop these days than they did back in the 90s, and that may be true, but there’s no denying that there aren’t still some great lyricists around.
